Wright got decent draft capital (fourth-round) in the NFL Draft, but he landed in a nightmare situation. Raheem Mostert is coming off arguably the best season of his career, and De'Von Achane is one of the league's most explosive rushers. Wright looks to be on the outside looking in for rushing volume right now, but it only takes one injury to change that. Mostert and Achane haven't exactly been pictures of health in the NFL. Wright is the perfect late-round high-upside draft pick to covet this year. The talented rookie, who ranked fifth in yards after contact per attempt and 13th in elusive rating (per PFF), is only one domino's fall away from consistent RB2/3 production this year.

Jaylen Wright never took over a backfield at the college level, settling for an 11% career dominator rating. But his efficiency was off the charts during his final season at Tennessee. He finished first in the class in yards per carry (7.4), averaging the second-most yards after contact per attempt (4.35) with the fifth-highest breakaway run rate. His 3.54 yards per play during his junior year ranked third highest in the class in his first-year as a starter.
However, it still resulted in just a 14% dominator rating. Wright will struggle to carve out a massive role at the NFL level.
That being said, he has elite athleticism to be productive even in a smaller role. He blew the doors off the NFL Scouting Combine with a 40-yard of 4.38 seconds. Also jumped 38″ in the vertical and 134″ in the broad jump (1st in the class). No doubt he will rise after extremely strong testing at 5-foot-10 1/2 while at 210 pounds.
And he is in a great position to succeed in Miami, even as a Round 4 pick. The location is a great scheme fit for what head coach Mike McDaniel covets: speed. He is also behind an aging Raheem Mostert and undersized De'Von Achane, both of whom suffered injuries last season
