Trinity Benson avoided a serious leg injury after going down in practice Wednesday, per Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell.
Fantasy Impact
Benson went down with a non-contact injury, which is always a cause for immediate concern. Campbell stated they will get a second opinion on Benson’s injury but that they “dodged a bullet.”
Detroit Lions wide receiver Trinity Benson is "having a hell of a spring," according to head coach Dan Campbell. As Eric Woodyard of ESPN notes, during his exit meeting last season, Benson asked Campbell how he could improve going forward. The wideout has ran with the advice he received, learning the playbook and adding speed to his skill set.
Fantasy Impact
2021 was Benson's third year in the NFL, but it was the first in which he caught a pass. Acquired from Denver prior to the season, Benson went on to catch 10 passes for 103 yards through 10 games with Detroit. Heading into 2022, it could be tough for Benson to find a role. After all, he's competing with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, D.J. Chark, Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond, and Quintez Cephus. With that said, there's no better way to emerge as a breakout candidate than by impressing the coaching staff.
