Taron Johnson signs extension with Bills

Taron Johnson signed a three-year, $31 million extension with the Bills.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson now becomes the highest-paid nickel back in the NFL. He'll be one of the top players in the secondary for Buffalo heading into next season after Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White were released.

Taron Johnson misses practice with soreness

According to Maddy Glab of buffalobills.com, Buffalo Bills CB Taron Johnson missed his second day of practice as he deals with soreness.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson has been a valuable piece of the Bills' defense as the team's nickel corner. Last season, he tied career highs of one interception, seven pass deflections and one forced fumble while allowing a career-low 55.1% completion percentage while being targeted, according to Pro Football Reference. Johnson should be good for the season and will be an important piece after playing 85% of the team's snaps last year.

Taron Johnson placed on IR

The Bills announced Tuesday they have placed cornerback Taron Johnson (shoulder) on season-ending injured reserve.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson underwent surgery on his shoulder last week but the team waited until Tuesday to place him on IR. The rookie slot cornerback originally injured the shoulder in Week 1 but played through it, something head coach Sean McDermott appreciated. “He’s been working through it, which we definitely appreciate,” McDermott said last week. “He got a number of reps. He did play well in there and had a good first season. We just felt it was important for him to get that taken care of, so he could have a productive offseason as well.” The fourth-rounder’s season ends with 42 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and three passes defensed in 11 games (two starts).
