With the uncertainty surrounding QB Joe Burrow, the Bengals have elevated Reid Sinnett from the team's practice squad, ahead of their Monday game vs. the Rams.

This could be an insurance move, more than anything, considering the positive trending movement of Burrow suiting up. However, if the Bengals were 100% confident in Burrow's health, they most likely would not have made the move to begin with. Sinnett will probably be the third QB on the depth chart, assuming Burrow plays behind backup QB Jake Browning.

Sinnett will provide the Bengals with a backup quarterback should Jake Browning start Monday for the injured Joe Burrow. Sinnett has a chance to stick with the Bengals’ practice squad after the Patriots signed Will Grier from the Cincinnati practice squad Thursday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cincinnati Bengals plan to sign QB Reid Sinnett on Sunday; he worked out with the team early Saturday.

Sinnett most recently played in the XFL for the San Antonio Brahmas, only playing one game before being placed on injured reserve. In the NFL, Sinnett has had brief stints with the Buccaneers, Eagles and Dolphins twice, never starting a game. Sinnett gives the Bengals another camp body at QB while franchise star Joe Burrow misses time with his calf sprain. Sinnett will compete with QBs Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning for a roster spot.

Reid Sinnett, who spent time as a backup in Miami last season, was brought in by the Bengals for a workout. With Joe Burrow likely out for the preseason, the Bengals seem to be eyeing a QB to add to their roster.

Sinnett started a game for the San Antonio Brahams of the XFL but then suffered a broken foot. The 26-year-old San Diego University product has spent ample time as a backup in the NFL and if the Bengals are looking for a practice-squad body then Sinnett may be the man for the job. Even if Sinnett finds his way to Cincinnati during the preseason, it is highly unlikely he ever sees fantasy relevancy in 2023.

Sinnett has bounced on and off the Miami practice squad for the past few seasons. With Tua Tagovailoa back to full health, the emergency QB option seems to not be needed at this time. There is always the chance that the team resigns Sinnett in the future.
