Justin Fields
QB - Pittsburgh Steelers
2024 Outlook
The Steelers are not expected to pick up the fifth-year option of Justin Fields' contract. He will be entering the final year of his contract next season.
Fantasy Impact
After being traded by the Bears earlier this offseason, 2024 will be a make-or-break year for Fields. If and when he beats out Russell Wilson for the starting job, he will be extremely fantasy relevant due to his rushing prowess.
The Bears are trading QB Justin Fields to the Steelers for a 2025 6th-round pick that goes to a 4th-round pick, depending on the amount of time played.
Fantasy Impact
Fields had been the focus of much speculation regarding his landing spot following Chicago's activity in the free agent and trade markets. He now joins newly-acquired Russell Wilson in the Pittsburgh QB room. Fields's fantasy value will depend on whether he is named the starter, which remains to be seen at this point. In three years with Chicago, the 25-year-old threw for 6,674 yards and a 16:9 TD:INT ratio. He also rushed for 2,220 yards and 14 TD.
Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields "remains a trade candidate." Despite being slow, there has been interest and the market has been "evolving."
Fantasy Impact
Fields' key rumored destinations have all been filled within the first 36 hours of the legal tampering period. Atlanta went with Kirk Cousins, Pittsburgh went with Russell Wilson and Las Vegas, Minnesota and New England signed bridge QBs. Fields' next destination may be in a role we didn't initially expect, perhaps as a developmental piece or a backup rather than a Week 1 starter.
Justin Fields is reportedly being discussed in trade talks with Raiders.
Fantasy Impact
The market has been fairly quiet for Fields as of late but it is expected to heat up soon with free agency starting. The Raiders also signed Gardner Minshew. This remains a situation to monitor.
With QB Justin Fields likely on the move this offseason, the Chicago Bears are reportedly remaining patient amid an unspectacular trade market for the fourth-year passer.
Fantasy Impact
ESPN's Dan Graziano said that he hasn't yet heard any indication that Caleb Williams won't go No. 1 to Chicago, likely meaning the Bears will move off of Fields. But the front office might stay patient and wait for the QB market (Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield) to play out first before leveraging Fields. However, the Bears may no longer be able to fetch a second-rounder, as teams supposedly are hesitant about Fields' looming fifth-year option decision, one that isn't present in QBs Sam Darnold or Drew Lock's contracts.
