Flacco will take over the backup role for the Colts after Gardner Minshew signed with the Raiders. He'll backup Anthony Richardson, assuming he is healthy for the start of the season.

Damar Hamlin was thought to be the winner for this award entering the season, but what Flacco was able to do joining Cleveland late in the season won him the award leading the Browns to the playoffs. Hamlin actually had more first-place votes, but it was 26 second-place votes that won Flacco the award. He threw for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while leading Cleveland to a 4-1 record after joining the team. His run came to an end against Houston in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that the team would be resting some of its starters in Week 18, including QB Joe Flacco.

Though Stefanski didn't specify exactly who would be resting, he did confirm that Flacco and edge rusher Myles Garrett would be among them. With the No. 5 seed locked in, the Browns are playing for no more than pride against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jeff Driskel will start at QB with P.J. Walker as the backup option.
Joe Flacco completed 19 of his 29 passes for 309 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in a 37-20 win over the Jets in Week 17.

Flacco and the Browns offense got off to a hot start as they scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and had built a 34-17 lead at halftime. Two of Flacco's touchdown passes went to Jerome Ford while the third went to Elijah Moore. Flacco has now thrown for three touchdowns in each of his past two games and three times in his five starts this season. He will be a solid QB2 in Week 18 against the Bengals.
Joe Flacco completed 27-of-42 passes for 368 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Browns' 36-22 win over the Texans.

Flacco continued his recent hot stretch, now throwing for over 300 yards in three straight games. He has thrown for seven touchdowns in his four starts, but also five interceptions. His best target on Sunday was Amari Cooper who had over 150 yards receiving in the first half alone and finished with 265 yards and two touchdowns receiving alone. He'll have a short week on Thursday against the Jets.
