Gardner Minshew II

The Raiders have agreed to terms with QB Gardner Minshew on a two-year deal.

Minshew is expected to compete with QB Aidan O'Connell. The Raiders have also been rumored to be linked to Justin Fields in trade talks.

Gardner Minshew completed 13-of-24 passes for 141 yards in the Colts’ 23-19 loss to Houston.

Minshew and the Colts’ passing attack were secondary to the Colts’ running game that dominated for an average of 6.1 yards per carry. The 27-year-old is a pending free agent and could have played well enough to have teams look at him as a bridge quarterback to an incoming rookie. The Colts quarterback job will turn over to Anthony Richardson in 2024.

Minshew also added three rushing yards in the win. The 27-year-old and the Colts relied on the running game in Sunday’s win over the Raiders, which limited Minshew’s upside. Minshew and the Colts will take on the Texans with a chance to win the AFC South.

It was not the most efficient afternoon for Minshew, but he made it work the best he could with Michael Pittman Jr. sidelined. He will hold some streaming appeal next week against the Raiders if Pittman can return.

The Colts were able to pick up an easy win over the Steelers on Saturday, and Minshew had a lot to do with that. He scored three total touchdowns on the day and did it while missing two of his best players in Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr. for the majority of the game. He's been very good as a replacement for the injured Anthony Richardson and is a worthwhile streaming option in deeper leagues.
