Next Game
Givani Smith scored the opening goal in Detroit's 3-2 SO win over the hosting Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday. He recorded a goal, a plus-1 rating, two PIMs, three shots, three hits and one block.
Fantasy Impact
Smith's goal was nearly a mirror image of the second goal Detroit put up as there was a scramble in front of the net. The rebound made it's way to Smith's stick and he made a quick spin move to be Casey Desmith. He's up to three goals on the season.
Givani Smith scored a goal, and also had an assist and a fight completing the Gordie Howe Hat Trick during Detroit's 4-1 win versus Florida.
Fantasy Impact
It was Smith's first goal of the season, to go along with three assists in six games played. In his limited ice time, he does bring the lineup some much-needed energy but needs to have a consistent role and ice time to become fantasy relevent.
Givani Smith scored the final Red Wing goal in their 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Monday. He had one goal on three SOG in 11:15 of ice-time.
Fantasy Impact
Both of Smith’s goals have been while the Red Wings have been getting destroyed. It must be tough on the kid not being able to celebrate. Look for him to get a big goal sometime soon. He should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Givani Smith scored his first career goal amid the Red Wings’ 8-2 loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. Smith was a minus 1 with one goal on one SOG in 13:10 of ice-time.
Fantasy Impact
Smith has mostly played on the bottom two lines seeing just over ten minutes per game. He is not worth owning in fantasy leagues outside of dynasty teams. His future is still bright making it to the NHL before his 22nd Birthday.
