Scott Alexander signs with Oakland

Scott Alexander has agreed to terms with the A's and will join the club in Spring Training.

Fantasy Impact

Alexander was signed to a major league deal by the A's and should grab a spot in the bullpen this spring. The 34-year-old southpaw worked 48 1/3 innings for the Giants in 2023, recording a 4.66 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 31-to-11 K/BB ratio while limiting left-handed hitters to a .215 AVG and .560 OPS.

Scott Alexander nabs third save Sunday

Scott Alexander picked up the saved against the Rockies Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Fantasy Impact

Any fantasy value he held outside of holds leagues came to an end Monday with Kenley Jansen's return. He may not receive anymore save chances for the rest of the season.

Scott Alexander blows save opportunity

Scott Alexander was given the save opportunity on Monday night against the Giants when the Dodgers had a 2-1 lead. Alexander was having a wavy performance after hitting Austin Slater to load the bases with two outs. It ultimately resulted in back-to-back singles, allowing three earned runs. The Dodgers ended up losing the game 5-2.

Fantasy Impact

It remains to be seen who Dave Roberts will give the ball to the next time the Dodgers have a small lead in the ninth inning. The Dodgers are shaking things up by adding Ross Stripling and Kenta Maeda to the bullpen as the teams relief woes have cost them three games in a row.

Scott Alexander takes loss Wednesday

Scott Alexander came on in the ninth against the White Sox Wednesday to maintain a tie game, but he allowed two runs on two hits and a walk. The Royals could not recover in the bottom of the inning and lost 5-3.

Fantasy Impact

Blame this one on manager Ned Yost. Alexander had worked three innings over the past two days, but Yost threw him out there anyway. Given that starter Eric Skoglund has been awful, the Royals had to use a lot of their bullpen. However, there was a better way for Yost to manage the game. Alexander now has a 2.26 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 53 Ks in 63 2/3 innings.
