Ike Davis expected to sign with Rangers

According to Jon Heyman, the Rangers will sign first basemen Ike Davis to a minor league deal.

Fantasy Impact

Davis will turn 29 years old prior to the start of this season and is coming off a three straight disappointing seasons following his 32 home run season in 2012 with the Mets. This is a nice buy-low move by the Rangers. Davis will look to earn a spot on the opening day roster and likely start the season as a left-handed bat off the bench and backup first basemen and DH.

A's place Ike Davis on DL

The Oakland Athletics have placed 1B Ike Davis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained hip.

Fantasy Impact

Despite previous success, Davis wasn't fantasy-relevant this season. The veteran struggled to a .652 OPS in 74 games this year.

Ike Davis now has at least one hit in four straight games

In Oakland's 5-4 loss to Houston on Thursday, Ike Davis went 1-for-3 with a run batted in, a walk and one strikeout.

Fantasy Impact

Not much can be made of any of Davis' recent performances, but if you're truly in desperate need for a starting first baseman or utility option in an extremely deep fantasy league you're in, give him a look.

Ike Davis gets a goose-egg at the plate on Thursday

Fantasy Impact

Davis' abysmal season continues. He cannot be trusted even in the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Ike Davis reached base three times in win over Twins

Ike Davis put together a very productive night at the plate with a 2-for-2 effort. He hit two singles and drew one walk, but was unable to knock in any runs or score any himself. He was eventually pinch hit for by Josh Phegley.

Fantasy Impact

Ike Davis has only hit .172 with a .294 OBP so far in July. While he was productive back in April, he has regressed since returning from injury and now only holds value in the deepest leagues.
