The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially added reliever Connor Brogdon to the active roster following a weekend trade from the Phillies.

The right-hander posted a 4.03 ERA in 29 innings for the Phillies last season but surrendered six earned runs and two homers in two innings to begin the 2024 season. Gus Varland was optioned to make room on the active roster.

Connor Brogdon will serve as the Phillies opener with Bailey Falter scheduled to pitch behind him Monday.

Brogdon has a 2.61 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP through 20 2/3 innings pitched this season. The 28-year-old last pitched two days ago and has yet to go more than two innings in an appearance this season, so fantasy managers should expect Falter to enter in the second or third inning.

Brogdon now has a 2.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, and is one of a handful of Phillies relievers in the mix for saves with Corey Knebel struggling. His strikeout rate is above 28% now and his walks are manageable, so if he does somehow earn the ninth-inning role, he'd be worth starting in all leagues. As it is, he's at best a part of a committee and at worst a garden variety late-inning reliever, so there's no need to do anything other than keep him on your watch list for now.
